Invitation: The BOS Organizing Committee would like to invite you to participate in the 5th Biannual Balticum Organicum Syntheticum (BOS) conference to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, June 29 - July 2, 2008.

History: We are returning to the origin of BOS: Vilnius, where we held the inaugural BOS in 2000. The conference has taken place in each Baltic capital since that first year. Each conference has seen outstanding scientists: Ryoji Noyori and Albert Eschenmoser in 2002, Barry Sharpless and Robert H. Grubbs in 2002, KC Nicolaou and David MacMillan in 2004, and Scott Denmark, Hisashi Yamamoto and other illustrious chemists in 2006. For BOS 2008, the tradition of excellence continues.


Our Goals:
- provide a forum for organic synthetic chemists from the entire world to speak of their work and discuss important scientific problems.
- promote discussion and interaction between academic and industrial scientists in a small conference setting, a special feature of BOS.
- present a unique and rarely experienced cultural, linguistic and social experience for participants and accompanying persons.


Programme: The programme and format of BOS 2008 is composed of two primary formats: plenary lectures by a distinguished roster of Baltic and international speakers, and poster sessions held in a congenial atmosphere to stimulate discussion. We aim for a balanced program of academic and industrial speakers presenting fundamental and practical aspects of organic synthesis. There will also be a full social programme of a reception, final banquet, city and university tours, and a concert.


Participation and conference details: BOS will be limited to 300 scientists. The official language of the conference is English.
